ABOUT ABOUT

KWAHS Member, Lieutenant Commander Travis A. Murray, Commanding Officer of CGC ISAAC MAYO (WPC-1112) in Key West, Florida has generously offered to host a private tour of Coast Guard Cutter ISAAC MAYO, the 12th Fast Response Cutter commissioned by the U.S. Coast Guard (28 March, 2015).  Homeported here in Key West, FL at Trumbo Point, this Sentinel Class Cutter proudly protects the shores of the 7th Coast Guard District. Housing a permanent crew of 24 sailors, an overall length of 154’, and displacing 353 long tons, ISSAC MAYO and her crew represent the pinnacle of maritime domain awareness. Patrolling as far as the Eastern edge of the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico and the South Florida Straits, the cutter performs nearly all the Service’s operational missions, while primarily focusing on maritime interdiction operations, living marine resources, search and rescue, and counter-drug operations. Most recently, ISAAC MAYO has been heavily engaged in direct support of Operation Vigilant Sentry, which has observed a significant increase in maritime migration operations since 2021; ISAAC MAYO has personally housed and cared-for over 1,000 non-citizens of the U.S. and has conducted more than 40 repatriations of these individuals to their country of origin.

The Coast Guard is excited to extend a warm welcome aboard, and to help further connect us with the U.S. Coast Guard that proudly serves and protects offshore. We hope you join us on May 11th from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Key West Coast Guard base at Trumbo Point. Further arrival infomration will be given to attendees prior to the tour date. This is a onetime offering since KWAHS member, LTCM Travis Murray, will be restationed late next month. (This tour requires you to maneuver up and down companionways and stairs.
